Mix Up Your Makeup: Orange Lips

This is a tough time of year, the holidays are over and with them they have taken all the excitement of the party season. It can be rough to not fall into a return to work rut, but there are a few simple things you can do to keep some of that special festive feeling alive throughout 2015, one of them is mixing up your makeup routine.

This season the easiest way to bring a dash of daring to your makeup look is by adding a slick of orange lipstick to your pout. The bright colour is surprisingly easy to pull of and is very complimentary to all skin tones. It will bring a lift to your complexion by adding both colour and interest to your look.

For the more alabaster toned amongst us stick to a paler, more pastel style orange, paired with a coral blush to create a natural peaches and cream style. For the olive toned ladies a deeper more tangerine coloured lip colour would work well, and take the extra step by using a lippy with added gloss to really make the lips pop.

When rocking a statement lip it is important to keep the rest of the face toned down, don’t be afraid to pair with a winged eyeliner, but going as far as adding a smoky eye would be a step too far!

If you are not a lipstick wearing kind of girl, ease into the trend by using an orange toned lip balm which will give you the added bonus of perfectly moisturised and conditioned lips.

If you are bold enough to try the trend your first stop should be YSL, Illamasqua and MAC who all have great orange colours available for all skin tones. Then all that is left to do is to go out there and rock it!
